Katie watched the rain pour down underneath the protection of an old tree. She could tell that the tree was starting to die, but the large branches were able to protect her thin body. She squinted her grey eyes and tried to look as far as she can down the street. It was no use; the downpour only gave her only a block to see. She gave a small sigh of defeat. What was the point of going back to work now? She’ll only succeed in getting soaked to the bone and being forced into those horrible outfits they have to wear. Plus, she didn’t feel like smiling today… A small glance was passed over her shoulder as a couple walked by. Of course, the lovely couple was sharing an umbrella. Ugh. She wrinkled her nose at the sight. They whispered about some travelers who were cutting through the forest to come over here. She has heard that tale quite often lately…Was this a new story to scare kids away from the forest? Or was it just a myth, like how leprechauns all have a pot of gold? Either way, she didn’t care. There was a small flash in the dark sky. Oh, great. A thunderstorm. Look where she is, too: Under a tree. Very smart, Katie, very smart. As the rain began to fall harder, Katie finally decided to make a run for it. Sure, she could only see a few inches in front of her face, but that’s okay. She broke out into the rain at full sprint. At first, she was aiming for the Inn, but another flash was seen and she decided to just to run into the nearest tavern. When she entered her clothes and hair clung to her and she was shivering form the cold.

A young male with bright red hair sat in the corner of the tavern. his purple eyes flung to the door that was just opened. A person had came in soaked. his eyes slowly drifted away from her and back to the waitress that moves threw the tavern in a hurry. looking away from that he looked down at the floor and seemed to space out deep in thought. at that time he looked life less , and lacking all emotion. like he had any before. he sat listening to the rain and the storm. sighing he looked back up at the girl coming out of the trans he was just in, still lacking emotion. the look upon his face wan neither calm or sad. it was a mix between the two.

Katie’s eyes went wide. Oh God, Oh God, Oh God. That was all that went through her head once she realized what she had done. Everyone was talking quickly. Katie swallowed hard. Not only was everyone talking a mile a minute, there were also so many mouths moving at once. A groan scratched her throat. It felt like acid when she held it in. Shaking uncontrollably, Katie made her way to an empty chair by the wall. It was then that she realized the red headed male had passed her a glance. At first, she looked away and became stiff, but after a few moments of thought and planning, she turned back to him. “Are you a traveler?” she asked, her voice soft and quiet. She winced as soon as the words passed her mouth. The words burned when they rose from her throat and scratched her tongue when they passed. At first, she was overwhelmed by confusion and fear, but she soon realized the pain was only because she never had a conversation for a few months. Katie was then asked by a waitress what she would like. After a small pause of silence her mouth moved: “A towel.” That was it, short and simple. But, then again, she never usually gave a full sentence...Well, today being an exception. After the woman gave her a funny look, Katie looked back to the male, a friendly glow in her eyes.

Kei watched the girl as she came close. He realized she was suffering some how. his eyes locked onto her. he just sat there . for a while there was a long pause but then words came out. they came from deep in this throught "... not exactly" was the words he spoke. His voice was quiet and showed much sadness. he said no more ,and his eyes came off this girl and over at two people eating and luaghing away. he wached them for a while and he made no movements or sounds. even his breathing was hard to see. he then looked at the girl again. noticing the warm friendly look the eyes raidiated on to him he just looked at her with the same cold emotionless eyes.

Katie bit her bottom lip. Well, she was almost right. She could tell that the young man hasn’t been in Wing Spire for very long. Most residents here usually had a posture that was quite irritating. Their pose was quite similar to one of a snob-but not quite. So, when she spotted his posture, she figured that he was: a) a traveler, or b) someone who has lived here, but has not been influenced by the society yet. The towel that was requested was brought to her and she quickly wrapped it around her shoulders. Already, she could see the rain beginning to fade away when she glanced out a window. “Do you have a place to stay?” she asked, tilting her head back. She stretched out her legs and looked over to the male. She had a faint idea where she was going with this, but nothing was in stone yet for her…

there was another quiet pause "... yes" his voice remaind quiet. though the place he was staying at was the inn, and staying in wing spire this week or for as long as he needed. he just needed to get away from his brother and sister and his nabors. he ceased to move , his eyes averted up at the ceiling but back down to the door, and back to this girl . 'what is this girl wanting? dose she just want to talk ?' he thought . '.... she ... she seems diffident from the others.. ' was another thought that spured in his head.

Katie seemed to perk up once she heard that he was staying at the Inn. Perhaps it was one she works at? She wouldn’t be too surprised if it was. “Billsbury Inn?” she asked, fighting back a gag at the sound of the name. Why they decided to call the Inn that, she’ll never know. Katie paused to dry her wet hair with the towel. If it was Billsbury, she might be able to convince him to go back with her. It’ll make it easier for her to make an excuse for why she was late…It would also take the wrath of the boss off of her, probably because it’ll look like Katie brought in a customer. Yeah, that sounded like a good plan. She then watched the male closely to see his answer.

again another pause for the answer. it was as if he was sercing for the right words to say "..... yes" he spoke. ' okay... she is realy trying to get at something here but what?' his thoughts rang in his head. he then shifted his siting position and seemd to slouch now. his eye lids fell a bit . he was begining to get tired of just siting around in the tavern all day, he needed something to do, but what? talking was surely out of the answer as for his social skils where way well up the wazzu of a dragon. or down at the bottom of the well out of reach of the bucket. either works for saying that he wasent a people person, well at least not after the fire... his gaze whent around the room . his eyes rested on a drunken old man trying to tell a story of this purple rabbit he meet down the road. apparently the rabbit had horns like a goat and a tail like a dragon 'crazy old man' was his thought of him. Kei brought his eyes back to the girl that he was kinda having a half conversation with though it seemed to be going nowhere.

An odd glint flashed across Katie’s eyes when she heard his answer. She passed another glance out the window, glad that the rain has finally stopped. Throwing the towel on the table, she stood up in one graceful move. “C’mon.” she stated, holding her hand out. She would stand in front of him with a hand held out for him to grasp. If he gave her a questioning glance, she would just merely state: “You look tired.” She was noting back to when his eyes drooped. If he accepted her offer, she would step out of the tavern. Her grey eyes would pass a glance down the street and then, by habit, burst out into a sprint. Before she ran down an alley for a shortcut, she would pass a quick glance over her shoulder to see if he followed.
