She's not here... damn... They probably got her then...
Sirion went to the front door, grabbing a longsword from a nearby soldier. It was so heavy, but it would have to do. He went out, the door blocked by two dead guards. He saw the girl and was relieved, but was soon interrupted by a claw coming at his face. He ducked and slashed at the assailant, but the weight was more than he was used to. He only scraped the attacker, then it got away. He cursed at his luck, but soon refocused. He ran towards the girl, blocking an attack for her. He knew she would have dodged it, but that wasn't the point.
"We need to get back to the smith! I've got some gear there we can use, so c'mon!" Sirion shouted to her, pushing away the claw and stabbing the vampire. He watched as it turned to ash, then noticed something. There weren't many vampires. Not a battalions worth, at least, more like a raiding party. If the guards were being slaughtered by this, there was a bloodbath coming. Sirion blocked another attack, then after the next attack was dead and the coast was clear, he grabbed the girls hand and dragged her along with him towards the smith.

Nodding to the man she was thankful for the block. She wasn't a fighter even if she could fight. It was by that time she realized what they were up against.
vampires?! Father used to talk about vampires... oh what was that spell
she thought to herself trying to remember. Not really thinking that spell could go right for her. Nothing ever did to tell you the truth. She still as she was dragged back to the smith's she was wracking her mind to think of that spell. Trying couldn't hurt... could it?
Still the spell had left her mind completely as nagging as it was. Then another thought came to mind as a claw came down between their hands. Realizing that man's hand she jumped back falling on the ground. The vampire looming over her she let out a surprised scream as she kicked the creature away. Looking to the man she nodd.
Well I have to do something.
"Go on without me, I have an idea." She said jumping to her feet quickly. there were not many of them so it might work. If luck was on her side. Magic for her was risky, mainly because it always seemed to go awfully wrong. Still she had to try people were deing.
Making her way through the attack she made it unharmed to the tallest building she could reach at least.
Looking down it as clear she was followed the vampires making their way after her already. Getting nervous already she began to shake
Oh this isn't going to work... Oh come on Skilynn just do it.
Closing her eyes the skies seemed to be clear but the sound of thunder rang through out the plains. She seemed to be trying to focus with all her mite but would it work?
The vampires just at the top Ski extended her hand flat toward the skis as lighting rained down. Surprisingly enough it seemed only to pass through the vampires. Passing from one indeed creature to the next. The spell didn't last long as always something did go completely wrong. Not able to hold the power of the spell the lighting flashed downward and struck Ski's hand. Knocking her out cold a this point.

Sirion simply nodded when she told him to go on. He had an idea that she knew what she was doing. He took the longsword and pierced it through the vampire's heart, then left it, running into the smith. He didn't have time to put on his armor, so he grabbed his sword and ran back outside, ready. He then saw the girl standing atop a building.
What is she doing...? Sirion wondered to himself. He then thought of it. She must know magic. This was good, she may be able to clear out the vampires in one sweep, he thought. He watched as the lightning passed through them, glad this was working, but then saw her get hit by her own magic. Not so good. Sirion darted forward, clearing out any and all of the beasts that got in his way, trying to reach that building, when suddenly they all retreated. This was odd, but he figured the magic must have scared them away for now.
After a while Sirion got to the roof of the building. He found the girl, seeing that the lightning didn't quite kill her, but she was out cold. He sheathed his sword and picked her up, one arm around the back of her neck and the other under her knee joints. He brought her back to the smith, but this time he brought her into his bedroom area, laying her on the bed. She could rest all she needed to. She did good.
At least now he knew the threat, and what it posed on the town. Sirion gathered up all the weapons and armors he could, bringing them to the barracks armory just so that the guard wouldn't be unprepared again the next time. The smell outside was unbearable, but the sights were worse. It was a massacre. Sirion dropped the weapons off, then went back to the smith.
He didn't resume work quite yet. He first made a meal of fruits and some meat from the market, leaving a dish by the girl as she lied in bed, eating the rest of the meal himself. Odds were, if her story was true, she would be hungry. He then sat in the forge and cleaned off his blade. After that, it was time to sharpen. It wasn't until he battle that he realized how dull his blade was. He pulled out a whetstone, then got to work.

Ski was completely out for most of the day. The magic wouldn't have killed her but still it back fired like it always had. Waking up sometime in the early evening she groaned. Her body hurt and she felt so weak. No doubt from being unperpaired before using such a spell.
Eyes she closed as she groaned again Ski sat up slowly. Her purple hair sticking up in places no doubt due to the lighting strike. Her hand hurt the most though. Cuddling her hand against her body she cursed her gift.
"Stupid magic... Never works right." She said out loud nearly forgetting what had happened at all. Bring her other hand up she rubbed the back of her neck. Her body was so stiff from what had happened.

Sirion held the blade up, examining it. It was good enough, for now, more than likely able to pierce through steel. Sirion stood and took a few swings. It was good. He set the blade aside, being finished working on it. He was too focused to hear what Ski had said. He went over to the door, taking one more look at the situation outside. He soon looked back inside, not liking what he saw outside. At least he took out a few vampires, and so did many others. That meant less opposition in the future. Sirion sighed, taking a seat, thinking the situation over. He didn't know what to do right now. His share of weapons and armor making was done for the day, and he was out of metal to use anyways, so he would have to wait until the morrow until the next shipment came anyways. He looked up in the air, trying to get his mind in order.

Ski found the strength to slide out of bed as she kept her hand close to her body. It burned with the engery she had used to call up that lighting. Wondering if it had even done any good at all.
Opening the door she looked at the man that was still a stranger to her.
"Thank you.... You didn't have to take care of me like that." She said softly to him walking into the room wondering just what all had happened since she had passed out.
It was slightly odd that vampires would be attacking such a town as this.
"I take it we won for the time being?" She asked him not really sure what to say now

He looked down. So, she was fine after all.
"Yeah, I believe we've scared them off. For now. But they'll be back, and with more... And maybe I didn't have to take care of you, but you deserved it. The magic is what got them away... Speaking of, how's the hand?" Sirion asked, feeling a bit more relaxed now. He stood and waited for her to speak.

"I don't deserve it.. If i was any kind of magic user they would have been dead, not scared off." She said being slightly hard on herself. Still the feeling of failure was something she never got used to.
She could hear her father's voice now yelling at her. How pathetic she was. Dazing off she just caught the end of his question.
"Huh?" looking down at her hand she drew it back. "It will be ok in a few days. Just a slight burn" She said not sure how their captian was going to take having this random magic user show up like she did in the middle of whatever was going on.

"Hm. Still, think of it this way, if you weren't any kind of magic user, we'd all be dead." Sirion sighed. "Well, I guess for now we'll just have to enjoy the peace, and just be prepared for next time..."
This girl seemed to be emotionally troubled at the moment, Sirion saw, but he couldn't figure out why. So he wouldn't ask. It would be wrong for him to prod into her personal life.
"So, how did a person like you learn magic, anyways...? I figured you to be more of a thief type, you know?"

"Learn? I never really learned to much about magic. It was more I was born into it. It is in the blood I guess...." she said lightly giving a soft laugh.
"I like that type of fighting though. the sleath. Your attackers don't have a chance to see you then." she admited
"What about you... A guy with your build should be a warrior not a peace making blacksmith." She asked back at him. It seem only fair.
