"Well..." he started, trying to find the silver lining in this situation. He couldn't. So, he went over to her and put his hands on her shoulders, removing one to put under her chin and make sure they were seeing eye-to-eye. He could tell what she was thinking immediately, or at least what she was feeling. Her eyes gave her away once more. As she was a wanderer, and as she had no family to return to, she had to have been feeling lonely. Or so that's what Sirion thought.
"Listen. I don't know if this is any comfort, but there are people who care about you. Think about it. You've saved many a villager today, and I'm sure they wouldn't think of turning you in. The soldiers probably respect you. And more so, I care about you. So don't get like this, alright?" he said, sympathetic to her. He didn't like when people got this way. Especially not her. Over this short period of time he already found himself to become fond of her, "So, I give you two options. When the mission comes tomorrow, I can go in with a few of their best militia and wipe them out without you having to lift a finger, and afterwards I will return to you. Or, you can proceed as planned and use your magic, and I will take your unconscious body away from here before anyone can come to find you. However, with either choice, I am staying with you. As I've said before, I help those in need, and according to your story... Well, you need my help more than a castle that is under siege."
"One thing's for sure. I won't let you die, Skilynn, and I won't let any harm come to you because of your father. You understand? I swear it on my oath as a guardian and protector, nothing will hurt you as long as you have me. So, which option do you choose? Would you have me go in, so you won't have to use your magic, or do you want to follow through with the original plan?" he asked, hoping he succeeded in cheering her up, even if only just by a little bit.

She sniffled from time to time as she looked into his eyes. It was so nice to hear someone say something like that, and to her which made it even better. She had never been cared about not even when she was a child it was always so cold and lonely to think about her past. Mainly because that is how she was. Always so lonely and not able to defend herself completely. Running was always the end result.
Jumping up she embraced him tightly not sure why she had but it was so nice. Holding to Sirion tightly she sniffled again. "Thank you" she said softly before continuing. "I want to come with you tomorrow... I can fight, and I will only use my magic if it is really needed. We will let fate desice what will happen." she said finally.

He was a bit surprised at her reaction. He wasn't quite sure on how to handle this, so he just did what he thought he should do. He embraced her as well. He was glad that he had comforted her, that was all that mattered right now.
"... Alright. Then we shall fight together, as planned. Don't make me regret not going with the first option, alright?" he said, putting a hand on the back of her head, "When this is all over, we'll leave. Should your magic knock you unconscious, I'll gladly carry you to the next town. Al..."
A pounding at the door. A voice shouted angrily on the other side.
"Open this door! We have come in search of someone and require any information you possess! Now, again I say, open this door!"
Sirion sighed.
"You should probably hide now. Fifteen gold pieces say they're from your father. I can't imagine how you live if they can track you down so quickly..."

Ski jumped when the pounding sound in the house. She tensed so quickly usually she was one step ahead of them, but then again that spell that back fired could have knocked her senses about as well. That would be the only way they could sneak up on her like this. Gasping she held to Sirion tighter until he suggested she go and hide. That was one thing she wasn't about to argu with him about.
Looking up at him she nodded before quickly and quietly slipping into the back room where she had awaken earlier in the night. Gentely shutting the door she let it cracked just enough so she could hear what was going on. Her curisoty was always so bad for her.

Sirion watched until he was sure she was safe, then went to the door. He opened it, rubbing his eyes, acting as if he had just been awoken from a slumber.
"You men know what time it is, yes? It isn't polite to wake a man from his nap... So, hurry it up, you said you were looking for someone?"
They regarded him with low esteem, seeing him as a lowly blacksmith with no respect for authority. At least, that's what Sirion perceived it as. If that was indeed the case, he was acting exactly as he wanted to be.
"We are looking for a young girl by the name of Skilynn Van. She normally travels trying to pass herself off as a male, has brown eyes, light purple hair. Quite distinguishable from a group. You haven't seen her, have you?"
Sirion looked as if he was in thought, "... Seen her? No, to tell you the truth, I haven't even heard of her..."
The men looked him over carefully, "You must be the village idiot then, yes? Everyone knows of the Van family, and of the bounty on her head."
"No, my good men, I am merely a wandering blacksmith, oblivious to the troubles of the world around me. I'm merely here to help with their vampire problem, is all."
"Likely. May we search the area?"
"On what grounds?"
"On the grounds that we're looking for someone, moron. We hold authority to search where we want, I was being kind by asking."
"Indeed. Well, come in, all I ask is that you stay away from the back room and the closet."
"Why's that?"
"Well, the closet you can check if you want, but be prepared to be impaled by hundreds of unfinished weapons... And the back room, well... Can I trust you lads with a secret?"
The men grinned to one another.
"Yea, sure. Spill it, if it doesn't relate to us, we won't tell."
"Well, you see, me and my wife were in the middle of something when you knocked, so... Yea, I'm sure she wouldn't want you to see her how she is now. That's why I took so long, I barely had time to throw my clothing on," he stated. He looked the part. Normally he'd wear his armor as uniform as a soldier would, but he was a bit sloppy when it came to clothing. And thanks to Skilynn's hug, they looked even more ruffled than normal.
"Ah, I see... We may have to look anyway, you know."
"You can look, if you have a death wish."
"What's that?! You dare threaten members of the Van family?!"
"Lad, let me tell you, I'd threaten a king if he wanted to barge in and take a peek at my woman. Understand?"
"... Very well. We'll leave you to your... umm... 'Business', then. Carry on," the leader of the two said, soon walking out the door.
He retained a solemn expression, even though he was mentally laughing at the thought of what Ski must have thought about his cover story. He turned.
"It's safe now. You can come out, if you'd like, though I'd give it a few minutes in case they're waiting outside waiting for a chance to barge in. Your call... 'dear,'" he said, somewhat jokingly at the end. Sure enough, some whispers came from outside the door from the same two men, and then frantic footsteps as they ran away.

Ski was listening very intently. Mentally cursing herself at the fact they had found her so fast. They were her fathers men and she was more the nervious up until the point that they left. Still Sirion humor was getting her all worked up.
Oh I bet he thinks he is funny Ski thought to herself trying her best not to respond to his words now.
Letting out a low growl as he added the dear onto his sentence she waited until she heard the men leaving completely. Opening the door she gave him a slightly cold look.
"You are not funny.... Your wife huh? 'Business' a?" Walking up to him she pointed a finger into his chest firmly as she spoke to him.
"Don't even dream it. because nothing like that is ever going to happen... ever!" she made sure to put a good tone on ever.

"... Sure. Did you have a better idea of how to shoo them off?" he said with a calm expression. He found it funny initially, but after seeing Ski's reaction, he thought that maybe he should have taken the time to think of something else. He sighed in his mind, looking at her.
"Listen, I didn't mean to offend. I just wanted to get them away, and that was the first lie that came to mind to tell them off. I apologize," he said, bowing slightly to show his regret for his actions, "I didn't expect you to like that, and I didn't expect anything like that to happen between us. But at that time, I had to say so so I could have a reason to threaten them. If they had lay one hand on that door, I would have been forced to kill them. I prefer to find alternatives to that course of action."
He stood straight up once more.
"And now that you've heard my side of the story, you may continue to chastise me if you'd like, but I'd prefer to have things go back to the way they were before that, umm... 'visit.'"

Listening to him Ski felt kind of bad about barking at him. she did tend to be rather defensive when it came to her body. She never really saw herself as someone that was beautiful or desirable, but she sure was going to let others take advantage of her just because of that. Feeling a little embrassed now she had to look away as she blushed.
"I'm sorry i just end to jump to conclusions. You were only trying to help. I have such terrible manners." she felt bad now because Sirion was only trying to help it wasn't his fault that was the only way to get them to leave.
"I feel so guilty now... how could I make it up to you?" she asked softly still not able to look at him.

"You don't have to, Skilynn. I can understand it from your perspective. If I didn't, I wouldn't have apologized. But don't feel bad about this, as I was saying, I don't mind getting yelled at so long as I know I deserved it, which in this case, I did. But still, don't feel guilty, you haven't done anything to me to feel guilty about. I should be the one asking you if there's anything I could do to make up for the story I came up with, after all. Is there anything I can do?" he asked, not really feeling bad anymore, but kind of feeling guilty for making her feel guilty.
He saw her blush, and as he said, he understood it from her perspective. If he were her, he wouldn't want people talking about him like that either.

"No it is fine. you have done so much already, but you know they will find me. " she said letting him know he was now in just as much danger as she was.
"They will not leave until they find me. they know i am here now. They must have been closer then I had thought. " now feeling even worse for not leaving when she should have.
"Oh how are we going to get through tomorrow now let alone the night. I'm scared." she said just planly not really meaning to say it to him but just in general
