"I don't see why not," Sirion replied in the same tone as his thinking voice, "For a few reasons. For one, I need something to keep me occupied for the rest of my life, and I'd prefer it a duty than me having to just drift along... Second, these people mean you harm, and I can't allow that. Last, I suppose I've grown a bit fond of you, so I wouldn't want them to do anything to you that I could prevent. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't. Is that a good enough answer for you?" he asked, stopping. This was a topic that would be best to talk about with her while fully focused.

Ski had been listening intently at how he answered her. It made sense enough, still she had never met anyone in her life that did so much for others. It was so odd to her now. Stopping as he stopped she was just a few feet behind him. Standing there looking over him this man that would offer so much for so little in return.
"Sirion" she said again just letting the sound of his name linger on as she thought for another moment. "How... how can you be so kind, after the world has been so cruel to you?" She asked not really sure about anything she was saying at the moment. This was more thought then she had given anything.

"The world is a cruel place, sure... And my case may be worse than some. But what happened happened, and I can do nothing to change that. There's no excuse for me to wallow in something I had no control over..." he closed his eyes, "... And it's the fact that the world is so cruel that makes me want to help others. It's because it's cruel that I know how tough it can be. And I want to do everything I can to bring hope to others, in hopes that they'll do the same. Understand?" he said. It was hard to summarize his philosophy on morals and such, but he explained it in a way that she would best understand and relate to. Or so he hoped.

Ski listened once again finding it so strange to find such a person. In her life everyone turned their back on her, even her own blood. But this man who was a stranger almost didn't do that at all. He was going against the most powerful family in the known world and he had nearly no fear of it either.
Looking down for a moment a past memory flashed in her mind. It was an embrace with Sirion. Blushing slightly at the memory she smiled back at him to hide as she pressed forward walking in font of him now.
"I think I understand, but no sense in all this talk. We should be foucsing on the task at hand. Onward to the next town." she said with a light laugh

He smiled slightly.
"Right. We should be able to see the next village as soon as he reach the top of this hill. It's a bit smaller than the one we were in before, no military, mainly a farming community. No problems as far as I'm aware, so we should be able to lie low here. Wait..." he examined the horizon closer, "... I think that might be smoke... A fire, perhaps. If it's the village, perhaps we'd be best going another way..." he said. He didn't know what in this area could destroy a village, but if it was destroyed, he didn't want to find out what caused it... He looked onward, stopping. This decision was Ski's.

Ski stopped as she looked up there was smoke too much for it to be a simple fire. Freezing she thought about it, what if the people needed help then again if it was her family that was the cause then it would be to dangerous.
waiting for a long while she just stood there thinking about it. Sirion was helping to protect her it was no good if they went onward to find something awful and it would endanger here it would be like making his job harder.

She was torn. He could see it plain as day.
"Tell you what. I'm going to go and check it out of personal curiosity. You can come along if you'd like," he said, hoping that made her choice easier.
Just then, a breeze blew across the hills.

Ski nodded as she went to follow him only to stop as the breeze rushed over the plains. It was natural at all and it brought a chill through her body. Shivering Ski held herself waiting to see if Sirion knew what had caused such an awful feeling.
Glancing at him waiting to see what he would do now.

He ignored the breeze. Sure, it felt slightly ominous, but fear would get them nowhere. He sprinted to the top of the hill, looking at the remains of the village, Completely destroyed, still aflame... Still screaming. This had only happened recently, it seemed. Sirion focused and tried to see what was happening, but could not. He saw two figures that resembled men looking towards him, pointing, shouting... That wasn't good. Sirion backed away, turning to Ski.
"It looks as though these men might be after us after all... Damn," he cursed, looking behind Ski, seeing the two men from before now on horseback.
"Do you know how long it took us to find you, Skilynn!? Now we'll have to make this extra painfu... Wait, I know you! Your that jerk from the village, the blacksmith! So you were hiding her! You...! Heh... Well, now you get to die too! Congratulations! Oh, I've been looking forward to this...!" the man shouted at him.
Sirion stepped ahead of Ski, drawing his blade as the other two prepared themselves for combat. It was time now to see just how good these two were...

Ski cringed at hearing her name being yelled she knew this couldn't have been good. She was no matched mentailly for these men. Her magical skills didn't even content with theirs. Shuddering at the thought she hoped at least Sirion could handle them.
Placing her hand on his shoulder she knew there was going to be a battle it was unavoidable at this point. "They will get into your head, they will try and used things against you in your pass when they can't beat you phsyically. Use your feelings to find your way out of their traps. I can only help so much." She whispered to him, the attackers picking up on what she was saying.
"Your silly words won't save either of you." he yelled as the advanced on Sirion and Ski
