As the first one rushed, Sirion sidestepped casually and tripped him, not even bothering to use his weapon. The other charged as well, and got an armored fist to the stomach. He was right in calculating their abilities, it seemed. They were no good with a blade. But then, that wasn't their specialty.
After a brief but painful fist fight, the men backed off.
"Your good...!" the one shouted to him, "But physical strength alone can't overcome this! Now, both of you, prepare yourselves to visit the land of your nightmares!"
Here it comes, Sirion thought. He hoped Ski was ready for this. He knew he was. After all, he didn't have nightmares anymore. He readied himself, smirking at the men as they said the incantations, and then he was overcome by a brief period of darkness.
He was floating. Nothing around him but black. This was rather boring, he thought, but it could be a lot worse, he supposed. He wondered what Ski was going through, and as he did, a light blinded him briefly. It seemed the illusion would continue after all.

Ski groaned as she was taken in by her darkness, but it didn't last long she it was easy to fight their illusion for her. They were too busy foucsing all their strength on Sirion. Although covered in darkness she shook it off quickly just in enough time to find herself loomed over by the two men. Sirion was to busy lost in his mind and illusion she was free looking up from where she had fallen victim to it.
The men just smirked as they reached down to grab her. Picking the fighting Ski up from the ground she was screaming but she knew Sirion couldn't hear her. Being forced up against the other man she was held into place even though she tried to fight them. The wicked grins on their faces brought a chill to the young girl. She knew she had caused them so much trouble she was in for it now. No doubt they would kill her in the end but for the moment they were going to toy with her.
The one flashing his small knife to her in a teasing manner just before resting it on her arm. Making the quick motion downward Ski screamed in pain as it cut her skirt and her arm. The blood falling on the green grass as she begged them not to do it.

Ski... No...
He could hear the screams. He pictured Ski being torn apart by some unknown force, and he was powerless to do anything about it. It hurt. But then he remembered. No, this is an illusion... They're toying with me...
The blackness faded, but refused to go away.
Damn, they are strong... he thought. He could hear Ski's screams, and hoped they weren't doing anything to her. He would kill them if they did. He immediately was filled with a guardian sense, and knew that this illusion held power over him no longer. He shook it off and looked once more at reality.
The bastards are playing with her... I can't let them go any further... he thought as he picked up his blade and silently charged at them.
The man froze. The blood ran down the edge of the blade, slightly running against Sirion's thumb. When he pulled out the man screamed, falling into a bloody mess in the grass. The other man didn't have time to be horrified as his throat was slit before words could come out. Sirion kicked the dying man to the ground and let him die. He swung at the air to send the blood on his blade into the grass before sheathing it, then turning his attention to Ski. He pulled her down, looking her over.
"You okay? They didn't do anything to you, did they?" he asked, not quite seeing her wounds at the moment.

She felt awful for some reason. Like she was so helpless in it all. Her arm burned from the cut and they managed to get a few more in before Sirion stepped in. Her side was cut up fairly bad and she was looking down a little to hide the tears in her eyes. But there was a nice slice across her right cheek no doubt it would scar.
"Just a few cuts, I will be ok." she said lieing to him. It hurt and it was clear it hurt.

He put a hand on her chin, tilting her head so he could see the cut. Every one he looked at made him more frustrated with his inability to protect her. He bowed his head, closing his eyes and pulling her to him, just putting a hand on the back of her head.
"... I'm glad that you're safe, at least... I'm so glad..." he said, embracing her a bit tighter. He was just happy he didn't have another moment like before. Cuts would heal. At least he was able to save her from the ultimate goal of their attack.

Ski just stood in his embrace letting the remainder of her tears fall into his clothing. His words were probably what made her blush though even if she didn't know why. It was at that point she had to say something. not that mind the embrace but it made her feel funny and it was a bit scary.
"Umm... Maybe we should go and see if we can help that village, or get some help oursleves.. or maybe we should just press on to the next village?" she asked.

"Oh, yeah, of course..." he coughed, "... Sorry, I was just... A bit worried, you know... Their illusion was pretty strong, it kind of made me scared for you, I guess..." he said. He let go and backed off slightly as he explained himself. That wasn't quite the real reason, but it was close.
"But... You are okay, then? You look to be in quite a bit of pain... What all did they do to you, anyways? It sounded bad..." he said, looking away. He never really quite felt embarrassed before, but this was definitely embarrassment he was feeling. He didn't mean to come off as quite so awkward. He guessed he was just re-living a moment in his past, but still, that wasn't something he was about to admit. He waited for a response, once she answered he would answer too.
He suspected the village was already beyond saving, and if they went down they'd go straight into the hands of the men that were hunting them, so he was reluctant to do so. He hoped she saw that too...

As Sirion backed away Ski looked away trying to hide her own embarrassment.
"Ummm... I will be ok it just stings a little." She said knowing that it wasn't true her wounds were deep nearly down to the bone on her arm. There were so rentless in their torrture of her.
"Just a few cuts here and there, but the fact they made them slow and deep made it hurt the worse. I guess it wasn't as bad as I made it out to be." she said trying to make it sound like it wasn't a big deal.
"Maybe we should just move on the sooner we get away from this place the better... I don't like the feeling I get." She said wanting to leave. Hoping to find a small pond or stream along the way to clean these wounds.

"Yeah... That'd be for the best. And Ski, you don't have to hide anything with me. If it hurts, tell me, let it out. It's bad to keep things like that inside you," he said caringly, walking ahead in another direction, "There's a lake ahead. That's our next destination."
He walked ahead, wondering what Ski would say next. He could see the cuts were deep, but he didn't want to make a big deal of it. If she wanted to vent her pain to him, he would listen. But he didn't want to bring it up if she thought she had it under control.

"It is alright, they don't hurt as much anymore." she said it was true they had settled to a dull burning but they still hurt as she moved. Walking slowly behind him she wanted to get there but her side ached as she walked along. Now her clothes were ruined as if they weren't before now it was even worse.
"A lake sounds nice, I could use a bath." Said more lightly now to make the past seem like just that in the past.
