He reached behind him without turning, holding the back of her head with an armored hand.
"I know. I don't want to go either. But some things must be... This is my mission, and I must see it through," he said, turning. He had to be strong for her. Now more than ever. "I'll be fine. I can handle myself, so don't worry. I hate it when you worry."
He leaned over to her and kissed her lightly on the cheek.
"... Everything will be fine," he whispered into her ear while he was near it. "... Alright?"

Ski didn't want to let him go and the kiss was so surprising but Sirion was right it was something he had to do regardless to what they wanted. Nodding she dropped her arms to her sides.
"Alright" she said agreeing to let him go on with it still not happy that it had to work out this way. It seemed like they had know each other forever now it was amasing how just a little war can do that to people.
"I will try not to worry. but I can't promise anything" she made that last part clear before agreeing to let him leave.

"As long as you try, that's all I need. I'll be back shortly. You have my word. I won't say good bye, for I know we'll see each other again, but until then, stay safe," he said, leaving after. He headed directly to the guard commander, his left hand on the sheath of his blade. Now was the time to fight.
He came across one of the men from the previous night, and he came up to say something to Sirion.
"So, how was your 'business' last night, hm?"
"Stay out of my way, or I'll cut you down where you stand," Sirion calmly replied, eyes still forward.
"I think you're just begging to be killed."
"The same could be said for you."
"Heh, you kill me now, and there'll be a hundred men of the Van family hunting you!"
"Then there will be a hundred dead men of the Van family, if you speak the truth."
"Why, you son of a..."
"Get out of my face. Now. Or else come with me and fight the vampires and we'll talk, but if you won't fight them with me, then I believe our business is concluded."
"Hmph. Fine." the man resigned himself to saying, afterwards walking away.
After the man was a good distance from Sirion, he started speaking to his partner.
"That elf really pisses me off. Arrogant bastard. Hmph. You know, if he's going to be away, his wife'll be lonely," he said, grinning, "Perhaps we should keep her... 'company'." ____________________________________________________________________________
Sirion walked into the building, straight into the commanders office. The old man spoke immediately.
"Where's the sorceress?"
"Her powers haven't recovered. So I'm going in her place."
"You must be suicidal!"
"Maybe. Or maybe I'm actually able to do this. Which do you believe, sir? I think I'm your only option here."
"... Fine. What do you want of me?"
"Five of your finest guards. That should be all."
"That's it?! Boy, I hope you're not just talking big..."
"Sir, I full-heartedly believe that I'm able. And if not, at least I can stall the vampires long enough for the sorceress to recover."
"True. Very well. Return here in a half of an hour and I'll have the men ready."
"Very well, sir," Sirion said, saluting before he left.

Ski just nodded she knew that anything could happen so his words brought little comfort. These were not men but creatures with the strength of twic a man. This was not going to end good that was the feeling she was having the whole time. She knew this to be true.
Even though she said she wouldn't worry Ski was finding it hard to stay in one place for very long. Going from the chair to standing to the bed and then to pacing.

Sirion waited outside of the commander's quarters for the unit to arrive. They were all here now, it seemed. This was good. He got back into his commander's persona, building up his voice.
"Men! I hope you know the importance of this mission, and what's at stake if we fail! Should we fall, the entire town falls with us, so we cannot lose for the sake of everyone here! Do I make myself clear?"
The shouts echoed through the stone halls.
"Sir, yes sir!"
"Very well! Then we leave immediately! Steel yourselves, and prepare for battle!" he shouted to them, afterwards setting off.
Now was the hour to get rid of this menace once and for all. ____________________________________________________________________________
The man from before knocked on the door to the blacksmith. He and his partner stood outside, waiting for Skilynn to answer the door, though they didn't know it was here.
If she didn't answer, they planned to break down the door. But for now, they waited, hoping they wouldn't have to go in with force.

Ski froze in mid pace. This wasn't good at all. It couldn't be anyone importaint just because Sirion was with everyone that mattered. Grabbing her dagger she moved to the door not planning on opening it at all but she wasn't just going to stand there and let someone find her. Standing just to the side she looked through a crack to see just who it was.
Partly gasping as she saw who it was the last thing she needed was for them to find her here of all places. Sirion might be able to take them on but she couldn't they knew her weaknesses.
Glancing up at the window she struggled to climb for it needing to get out of here as quickly as possible.

The men knocked a second time.
"You know, missie, if you don't open the door we'll open it ourselves... And you wouldn't want us to do that, now would you? Heh..." The man pounded on the door, "You have to the count of five! Got it!? One!" he started... ____________________________________________________________________________
Most of the ruins were clear now. The vampires already succeeded in killing three of the other soldiers, but Sirion and two others still remained, and that was more than enough. Judging by the way the fort was built, Sirion didn't think there'd be much more to go through.
With a downward slash, he took care of one more vampire, and pressed on.

Ski had to laugh partly as the men counted down just the amount of time she needed as she slipped out of the window making sure they didn't spot her as she laid low to the roof. Sliding to the back she managed to jump off without a sound just as the men would be rushing in.
Heading off toward the woods she knew Sirion would be so upset with her, but he did say to be safe. And she was the safest with him.
Stubbling onto the fort she just followed the trail of dead bodies up until she stopped his small group. She had gone to say something but was tagged by one of the vampires. Forced up against the wall as she gasped. The creature had her by the neck but that didn't last for long as she brought her dagger out and sliced it wrist causing the creature to drop her.

A thump. Sirion quickly turned, and did what he did best. After seeing Ski, he ran and decapitated the vampire quickly, hoping she didn't get hurt.
"... You alright, Ski?" he asked. His tone immediately shifted, "What the hell were you thinking?! I told you to stay back at the smith, so you could stay out of the sight of those men! What happened?"

"Hey you told me to stay safe and it wasn't safe there anymore." she yelled back at him even though she knew he was just being protective of her.
"Those men they came back" she started to explain in her normal tone now." they broke in I didn't know where else to go." she admited not wanting to have left him behind and move on to the next village. Not sure where this was going to go from here. "Please don't be mad at me." she asked softly
